Obituary for Charles "Chuck" Frank
Charles John Frank, age 84, passed away July 14, 2019 in CMC Pineville Hospital, in Charlotte, NC. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, July 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Burgess Funeral Home in La Salle with visitation from 10:00 a.m until the time of service. The Very Reverend Paul Carlson, pastor of La Salle Catholic Parishes will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in La Salle.
Chuck was born on October 11, 1934 in Oglesby, IL to Frank W. and Sophie (Perschuh) Frank.
He was a graduate of La Salle-Peru Township High School. He received a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and earned his master’s and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
He married Geraldine “Geri” Samolinski on August 24, 1957 at St. Hyacinth Church.
He was employed as a project manager by Electric Power Research Institute in Palo Alto, CA, where he retired after 30 years. He was affiliated with many professional organizations
. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, a son, Curtis Frank of Oakland, CA, a daughter, Kerri Fullerton (fiancé, Marc McGrearty) of Charlotte, NC, grandchildren, Samantha, Ethan and Ella Fullerton, three sisters, Elsie (Harold)Stone of Ottawa, Darlene (Victor) Wasielewski of Oglesby and Frances “Fanny” (Douglas) Hunter of Huntington Beach, CA as well as several nieces and nephews.
He preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Frank Frank Jr. and a sister Marian “Mitzi” July.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for donation to his favorite charities.
