William Gallup 72, of Utica passed away on Thursday, November 6th at 5:00 PM in Hines VA Hospital Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 12th in St. Mary's Church in Utica with Msgr James Swaner Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood IL Visitation will held on Tuesday, November 11th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the Utica Fire Department and on Wednesday, 10:00 - 11:00 AM in St. Mary's Church Born on July 3, 1942 in Spring Valley to Walter and Alma (Starkey) Gallup He served for 10 years in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart Married Linda Rossmann on June 9, 1973 in St. Mary's Church in Utica Member of St. Mary's Church, Life Member of Illinois Valley Detachment Marine Corp League , Utica Fire Department for 39 years, Life Member of LaSalle VFW Post 4668, Oglesby American Legion Thomas Larkin Post, Ran Utica BB Gun Club for decades, Member of Former Princeton H.O.G Chapter, Knights of Columbus Father Marquette 1775 Owned and Operated Gallup Inn for 24 years and worked at the Starved Rock Lock and Dam for 26 years Survivors His Wife Linda of Utica 2 Daughters Janna (Todd) Stash of Oglesby Jennifer (Paul) McGowan of California 1 Son Bryan (Jessica) Gallup of Joliet 4 Grandchildren Carter and Quinn Gallup, Jessica Bechtol, and Sean Daly 1 Great Grandson Colin Bechtol 2 Sisters Bonnie Roda of Utica Patricia (Henry) Withee of Texas 1 Brother Ronald (Melanie) Gallup of Indiana 5 Step Brothers William Day of Joliet Dennis (Hilda) Day of Wilmington Kevin (Penny) Day of LaGrange Ronald (Mary Lynn) Day of Deer Park Russell 'Rusty' Day of LaSalle 1 Step Sister Patricia Drennan of Standard Preceded in death by Parents and Step Mother and 1 Step Sister Cathy Bennett In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to his family for his favorite charities and organizations Full military services will be conducted following the funeral mass Online condolences may be viewed and expressed at www.burgessfh.com Burgess Funeral Home in Utica in charge of arrangements
