Obituary for Harry VanValey
Harry (Hank) Linden VanValey 90, of Peru passed away on January 21, 2018 at Illinois Veteran’s Home.
Funeral Services will be held at Trinity United Church of Christ on Thursday, January 25th at 11:00 AM with Pastor Betty Delgado officiating
Burial in Peru City Cemetery
Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:00 - 11:00 AM in the Church.
Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle is in charge of arrangements
Born on September 23, 1927 in Lasalle to Harry and Margaret (Joop) VanValey
Harry was a Veteran of the US Navy from September 11, 1945 to January 9, 1949. He was an Aviation Metal Smith Third Class and was on the Franklin D Roosevelt serving in the Mediterranean and South America.
After his discharge he worked at Westclox, J & L, and was Forman of the Maintenance Department at IVCC until his retirement on July 1, 1991.
Married for 71 years to Mary Ann Micheli on July 16, 1946 at St. Joseph’s Parrish in Peru.
Member of Trinity United Church of Christ in LaSalle, he was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs Fan, member of the South Shore Boat Club and an avid fisherman enjoying his annual hog crew trips to Wisconsin and Minnesota. He also loved watching his grandchildren play sports.

Daughter Cheryl (Allen) Turczyn of Dalzell
3 Grandsons
Tom (Lori) Turczyn of LaSalle
Jim (Shannon) Turczyn of Peru
Bill (Renee) Turczyn of Peru
7 Great Granddaughters Kelsey, Abby, Kara, Kylee, Shayla, Jianna, and Aria
Preceded in death by his Parents and Sister and Brother-in-Law Beverly and Robert Samolinski
Full military services will be conducted by the LaSalle/Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group
