Obituary for William Prokup
William C. Prokup Jr. 53 of Peru died unexpectedly at 10:18 PM on Saturday, October 7 in IVCH in Peru.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 12 at 10:00 AM at the Worship Assembly Building at St. Bede with Abbott Philip Davey O.S. B. officiating.

Visitation on Wednesday October 11 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at St. Bede and Thursday 9:00 - 10:00 AM at St. Bede. Burial will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery. Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bill was born on June 17, 1964 in Spring Valley to William and Patricia (Dean) Prokup. He married Bonnie Pohar on November 25, 1989 in Resurrection Church, LaSalle. Bill graduated from St. Bede Academy in 1982 and received his bachelor's degree from Illinois State University in 1986.

Bill was truly a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, son-in-law, brother, brother- in- law, uncle, and friend. His greatest joy in life was his family. Bill was a humble, kind, and generous man. He supported all those he was close to, giving his time to so many. He enjoyed traveling with his family, cooking family dinners, watching his children, nieces and nephews play various sports. He was a St. Louis Cardinal Fan. Bill was a dedicated volunteer of St. Bede. He coached softball at St. Bede for 4 years, taking the 2013 Lady Bruins to the State Tournament.

Bill will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife Bonnie, mother Patricia Prokup of Peru, two daughters, Bekki ( John) Root of Bloomington, Barbi Prokup of Chicago, one grandson Johnny Root, sisters Barbara Prokup Perino of Westerly RI, Julie (Fort) Miller of Granville, Jill (Scott) Tice of Montgomery, two Brothers ,Michael (Kim) Prokup of Granville, James Prokup of Dalzell, and many nieces and nephews

Preceded in death by his father William Prokup Sr. and father-in-law John Pohar Jr.

Pallbearers will be Matt and John Perino, Adam and Alex Lenkaitis, Allyson and Annie Miller, Stephanie Prokup, Julia Pohar, Chuck Hundley, Tom Payton, and honorary pallbearers Mike Dean, Bob Ficek, and Johnny Root

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Bede for the family's wishes to install an outdoor SBA sportswear and snack shack..
