Obituary for Louise Harmon
Louise (Carroll) Harmon of Rural Utica passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, August 27th, surrounded by her adoring husband Gary and family.

The mass of Christian burial and the interment will be private. There will be no visitation.

Louise was born in Ottawa, IL on December 13, 1947 to Mary (Brown) Carroll and Walter Carroll.

Louise is survived by her husband Gary. Their four children; Chris Harmon of Los Angeles California, Missy (Mike Harms) of Glenview, Illinois, Jason Harmon of North Utica, Illinois, and Nick Harmon of LaSalle, Illinois. Her two Grandsons Colin Harmon and Tristan Harmon.

Louise attended grade school at Saint Columba and high school at Marquette in Ottawa where she was also in the drum and bugle corps.



Louise married Gary Harmon of Waltham in 1968. Together they built a life as well as several businesses including Starved Rock Amoco and Whispers Gift Shop. The most recent endeavor was the building of Hickory Hollow Campground in Utica with their dear friends and business partners Fred and Sandy Esmond. One of Louise’s great joys was being in the company of her wonderful employees and her fabulous customers, who over the years became friends.

Louise donated her time to Marquette May Merriment, a member of Catholic Daughters of America, the Utica Business Association, the Altar and Rosary of St. Mary’s Church in Utica, and a member of the Waltham Curling Club.

Louise was proceeded in death by her brother Bill Carroll, half-brother Kenneth Carroll, half-sister Kay Stein, half-brother Robert (Marge) Gaffney.

Donations in Louise’s memory and in lieu of flowers May be directed to the family for her favorite charities.
