Helene Traylor Helene Traylor 103 of LaSalle passed away March 14 at 3:15AM at IVCH Hospital in Peru. Cremation rites have been accorded. Per her wishes there will be no services. The Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle is assisting the family. She was born on March 17, 1916 in Chicago, IL and graduated from Lindblom High School in Chicago in 1932.She married Arthur “Art” Traylor who at the time was serving in the US Navy. They married in Yuma, Arizona in 1944.. She and her husband were cattle ranchers in Placer County California. After Art’s death Helen donated their 90 acre ranch to the county. The ranch then became the Traylor Ranch Bird Sanctuary and Nature Reserve. Today local Placer County residents enjoy the natural beauty and wildlife in the area which the Traylors saved from urban sprawl.During her lifetime Helen survived many historic events including the Spanish Flu pandemic in 1917. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, especially her nephew Jerome (Carol) Baness of LaSalle who was her caretaker.
