Obituary for William "Bill" Perra
William A. (Bill) Perra, 90, of LaSalle, died Saturday, March 13, 2021. Private family service will be at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded. Burgess Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
Bill was born November 12, 1930 in LaSalle to Hyacinth and Clara (Affelt) Perra. He graduated from St. Hyacinth’s Grade School and LaSalle-Peru Township High School. He married Sandra Zubowski at St. Hyacinth’s Catholic Church on August 20, 1955.
Bill will be remembered as a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.Bill served in the army in Korea from 1951-53. He retired from Union Carbide/American Hoechst in Ottawa. He was a member of St. Hyacinth’s Catholic Church, St. Stephen’s Society, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Catholic War Veterans (CWV). He volunteered as a Red Coat at Illinois Valley Community Hospital for 26 years.
Bill is survived by his wife; three daughters, Jill (Ken) Drennen of Peru, Susan Hughes of Elgin and Meg (Steve) Kowalczyk of Peru; five grandchildren, Molly (David) Bliss, Alex (Alexis) Drennen, Karch Kowalczyk, Luke (fiancée Kathleen) Kowalczyk and Brett Kowalczyk; four great-grandchildren, Chloe Bliss, Julia Bliss, Penelope Drennen and Amelia Drennen, sister Dorothy (Ron) Carter of Peru; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Vivian Mindock, brother Hyacinth Perra, and nephew Richard Mindock.
