"Virginia Ann Pokryfke, 56, of Spring Valley, IL, passed away on January 3, 2020 at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. She was born on August 11, 1963 to Ron and Nancy (McCann) Rager in Charlston, South Carolina. She married Ken Pokryfke in April 2007. She is survived by her husband Ken, her mother Nancy, and two sons John Joseph Walsh III (his fiancee Morgan Coleman) and Vance Patrick Walsh, and an aunt (Joyce Lott). She was preceded in death by her father Ron, her brother Vance, her grandparents, two aunts, and an uncle.
She graduated from Academy of Our Lady/Spalding Institute in 1981 and Illinois Valley Central College in 2010. She worked in childhood development for most of her life. She was a director at the YMCA in Schaumburg, IVCC, and Summit Learning Academy in Lasalle. Virginia was an excellent teacher who always loved working with children. She was a member of Crossbridge Community Church (Peru Campus). She had many talents and was loved and admired by many.
Visitation will be at Crossbridge (Peru Campus) on Friday, Jan. 10, from 4-7 pm and will be immediately followed by a memorial service. Pastor Kevin Hancock and Rev. Marc Strand will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for their favorite charities. Burial will be at a later date." On line condolences may be express at www.burgessfh.com.
