Virginia Cole 87 of Tonica passed way peacefully on May 1st at Manor Court in Peru. A funeral service will be held Tuesday May 6th at the Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle at 1 PM. Pastor Phil Jackson of the United Methodist Church of Tonica will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Utica. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:30 until the time of services.
She was born on September 21st, 1937 to Rolla and Mable (Randol) Peek.
She married Arlo Cole on May 24, 1953.
Through out the years she was employed by Westclox in Peru, and served as manager at Ed’s Corner Antiques in Oglesby.
Virginia cherished and loved spending time with family and friends. When given the opportunity she enjoyed reading a western novel. Playing video slot machines was one of her favorite past times. She would freely admit that she was a junk food junkie. She along with her husband would enjoy working in the garden and going fishing.
She is survived by her loving husband of seventy-one years. One son Randy (Tracee) Cole of Peru, and one daughter Sandy (Martin) Sadnick of Tonica. Several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. One sister; Marilyn Sexton, One sister-in law; Sherry Stickney, and one brother-in law; Ralph Cole.
She is preceded in death by: one brother, and two sisters.
