Obituary for Vincent Sabino
Vincent Sabino, 100, formerly of Streator, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the Illinois Veterans Home in La Salle.
Cremation rites have been accorded, as per his wishes. There will be no visitation. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Streator. Burgess Funeral Home in La Salle is in charge of arrangements.
He was born March 24, 1915, in Chicago, to Claudio and Giovnina (Avento) Sabino. He married Lena J. Shull on Sept. 10, 1936, in Streator. She died June 22, 1990.
He worked for Frontier Life Insurance for many years, retiring in 1983. He and his wife owned and operated S&S Supermarket for many years.
He was a member of St. Anthony Church and past member of Streator Elks Club.
He served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant during WWII in the South Pacific.
Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn (Dean) Dudek, of Peru; and two grandsons, Nickolas, of Peru, and Christopher, of Tonica.
He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Carl, Sam, Mario and Frank Sabino; and sisters, Rosemary Wojoski and Genevieve Sabino.
Memorials may be directed to the Illinois Veterans Home in La Salle.
