Obituary for Thomas J. Samolinski
Thomas J. Samolinski 90 of Peru passed away Monday February 5 at 9:31PM in Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru. A Funeral Service will be Saturday February 10 at 3PM in the Burgess Funeral Home in La Salle. Father Gregory Jarzombek of St. Bede Abbey will officiate. A Flag folding ceremony will be conducted by the La Salle/ Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be in the funeral home Saturday 1PM until the time of services.
He was born on May 20, 1927 in Streator Illinois to Joseph and Angeline (Turczyn) Samolinski.
He was a veteran of WWII by serving in the marines.
He married Helen Barbich and later married Phyllis Dean.
He worked several years in the residential and commercial construction field as a carpenter.
He was a Gold Circle Member, VFW La Salle Post 4668, American Legion Bloomington Post 2910 and the National Disabled Veterans Foundation.
Survivors
Thomas and Helen children are:
3 Daughters; Diane (Butch /deceased) Marchesi of La Salle, Karen (Kerry) Peterson of Peru Laurie (Bryan) Bland of Spring Valley
2 Sons: Tres (Susan) Thomas of Charlottesville Virginia, Tim (Lynette) Samolinski of Houston Texas
3 Brothers: Ronald (Linda) Samolinski of La Salle, Kenneth (Joan) Samolinski of La Salle, Greg (Cheryl) Samolinski of Dalzell.
2 Sisters: Deloris Daley of Oglesby, Gerry (Chuck) Frank of North Carolina.
11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Phyllis, and 2 brothers.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for his favorite charities.
