Obituary for Shirley J. Piotrowski
Shirley Piotrowski, 87, of Peru, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle.
Shirley was born March 28, 1936 in LaSalle, Illinois to Frank and Lillian Kowalski.
She was the youngest of three children. Mrs. Piotrowski was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Commercial in Peru.
She married Richard Piotrowski in 1960 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in LaSalle.
Until she became a mother, she worked at Illinois Bell telephone company in LaSalle as a long distance operator. In later years she worked at Leath Furniture store in Peru and retired from Ronkins in Spring Valley as a welder when she was 70.
Shirley loved being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and the local riverboats. A fantastic homemaker, she always made the best ravioli sauce according to her family.
She is survived by her husband Rich, son Gary (Spring Valley), and three granddaughters, Xuxa (Chicago), Shana (California), and Sasha.
She was preceded in death by her parents and older brother and sister. May she rest in peace.
