Obituary for Shirley Cybulski
Shirley Cybulski 84 of Ottawa passes away April 10 at 4:57 AM at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. A graveside service will be held Wednesday April 14 at noon at the Bethel Jewish Cemetery (corner of McKinley Road and Catherine Street) in Ottawa. Rabbi Steven Peskind will officiate. (Everyone attending is ask to wear a mask and practice using social distancing.)
Shirley was born on October 4, 1936 in Chicago to Louis and Mollie (Snyder) Jacobson.
She was the beloved wife for 58 years to Edward Cybulski who passed away in 2015. She was the loving mother of one son; Michael (Christine who passed away in 2018) Cybulski of Flossmoor IL., and one daughter; Marla Cybulski who passed away in 1994. She cherished her granddaughter; Leah (Adam) Krause and adored her great-granddaughter Lyric Krause. She loved her time with her several nieces and nephews. She considered her caregivers at Home Instead in Peru were family to her.
She was the sister to four brothers; Charles (Delores), Robert (late Esther and Carolyn) Jack, and Max (Linda) Jacobson. Charles, Robert, and Jack have preceded her in death.
She received her education in Chicago. In 1957 she moved to Ottawa when she married Edward.
She worked in Ottawa including 25 years for LaVerne Dooley State Farm Agency before retiring.
She was a member of the Temple B’nai Moshe of LaSalle.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed the American Cancer Society.
