Obituary for Shirley A. Soens
Shirley A. Soens 83 of LaSalle passed away November 11 with family at her side at OSF St. Francis Healthcare in Peoria. A memorial service will be Saturday November 25th at 12 PM at the Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle. A burial will take place later. A memorial visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 10 until the time of services.
Shirley was born on September 30, 1940 at St. Mary’s Hospital in LaSalle to William Thomas and (Francis (Supan) Edgcomb.
She married her best friend and the love of her life Jerome “Jerry” Soens on February 11, 1961 at Holy Rosary Church, in LaSalle.
She was a member of St. hyacinth Church. She could always find a good book to read. She loved to travel, and in the summer months she loved to focus on her gardening. She cherished her family and friends, and would find time to always visit with them.
She is survived by: her husband of sixty two years.
One son: Erik “Ric” Soens of Cedar Point.
One sister: Linda (Jerry) Leslie of Earlville.
Four grandchildren: Hannah, Max, Ivy, and Bella.
Several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, one daughter (Christine 2021) and eleven siblings.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for her favorite charities.
