Obituary for Sheila Ann Conlin Brown

Sheila Ann Conlin Brown 87 of Hilton Head Island, SC passed away on September 12, 2022 in Columbus, OH. Her funeral mass will be Saturday September 24th, at 9 AM at St Patrick’s Church, Hennepin, IL. Father Ron Margherio OSB will officiate. Burial service will follow at 12:30 PM in the internment chapel at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL. Sheila was born on Oct 14, 1934, in Oak Park, IL to Andrew Francis Conlin and Dorothy May (Flemming) Conlin. She was a 1952 graduate of Trinity High School, River Forest, IL and a 1956 graduate of Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN. Sheila earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics with a minor in Biology. She married Richard Brown on September 28, 1957 at Sacred Heart Basilica, Notre Dame. Sheila’s three daughters and granddaughter, Kathleen (Nester) Kasberg followed in her footsteps and attended St Mary’s College. Sheila served on the Saint Mary’s Madeleva Steering Committee from 1999-2001 and the Saint Mary’s Alumnae Board from 2002-2009. In 2012 Saint Mary’s bestowed her with the Distinguished Alumnae Award. She was a devout Catholic and active member of Holy Family Parish in Hilton Head, SC where she was an Extraordinary minister. Sheila lived many years in Princeton, IL where she worked as a Consulting Dietitian at Perry Memorial Hospital and served on the Children’s Home Board. She was active in Fortnightly, Friends In Council, Women’s Investment group, and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Richard Brown and her children Bridget (Bart) Weber, Glen Ellyn, IL, Molly (Jim) Nester, Galena, OH, Kathleen (Greg) Stone, Youngsville, NC and Thomas Brown, Peru, IL. She had 16 grandchildren and 8 greatgrandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son Christopher Conlin Brown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association.
