Obituary for Ruth Margaret Janka
Ruth Margaret (Jauch) Janka, age 76, of Peru, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 4, 2021 in St. Margaret Hospital in Peru with loved ones surrounding her.
She was born on March 1, 1945 to (the late) Max and Gertrude (Schmitt) Jauch in Mendota, IL
.
Ruth married Don Janka at Sacred Heart Church in Dimmick on February 20, 1965.
They have 4 children: Tim (Kate) of MN, Ron (Lisa) of TX, Amy (John) Kowalski of Peru & Jill (Darren) Tonarelli of Romeoville. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren whom she cherished: Emily & Ted Janka (MN), Dakota (Kody-AZ), Kalee, Kage (AZ), Klayton (MI), Keeton & Keya Kowalski, Isabella, Anna, Aiden & Evan Tonarelli. She is also survived by one brother, George Jauch (FL)., and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was a faith driven, family oriented, selfless, generous, beautiful soul whose smile lit up any room. She spent many of her working years as a teacher's aide at Northwest Elementary School in LaSalle. Ruth enjoyed traveling all 50 states with Don in their 56 years of marriage.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Mathilda (Rutherford) & Kathryn (Schmitz) and one brother Max.
Celebration of Ruth’s life will be held Tuesday, July 13th, 4:30-7:30pm at Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle. Additional visitation will be in the church on Wednesday from 10 until the time of services. A funeral mass will be Wednesday, July 14th at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in LaSalle at 11am. Reverend Paul Carlson Pastor of Holy Family Church will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Hyacinth Cemetery, LaSalle. The 12 grandchildren will be her pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family for future memorial masses.
