Obituary for Ronald Lee Heider
Ronald Lee Heider, 51, of Peru, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 12, 2015 at Loyola Medical Center due to transplant complications.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 16th at 10:00 AM in St. Valentine's Church with Msgr. Brian Rejsek officiating
Burial in St. Vincent Cemetery
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15th from 4:00 - 7:00 PM in St. Valentine Church and Thursday July 16th 9:00 - 10:00 AM
Mr. Heider was born July 27, 1963 in Spring Valley to Eugene and Phyllis (Moore) Heider of Lostant. He married Charlene Mertel on December 13, 1986 at Holy Family Church in Oglesby.

Ron was a graduate of Lostant High School where he enjoyed playing basketball. One of his highlights was traveling to Europe to play basketball. He was a cook at Bullhead’s in Lostant until 1986. Ron worked for Maze Nails in Peru from 1986 until 2012 when he was diagnosed with cancer and had a stem cell transplant. He was a member of St. Valentine’s Church in Peru, a Knights of Columbus member, an avid sports fan with the Bulls, Cubs, and Creighton being his favorites.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene, three children, Amber of Spring Valley, Michael (Jessica) of Utica, and Angela (Brandon Templeton) of Spring Valley, 5 grandchildren: Peyton Ellermeyer, Bryce Poole, Sophia Templeton, Kenlee and Kreyton Heider, his Father, Eugene (Snick) Heider, three brothers: Gary (Linda) Heider of Washington, James (Sue) Heider of Oglesby, and Robert (Denise) Heider of Tonica, five sisters: Mary Kay Kozak (friend Syl Janusick), Jean (Jim) Gentert of Utica, Nancy (Steve) DeRubeis of Wenona, Jacqueline (Max) Actis of Spring Valley, and Susanne (Gregg) Humphries of Gilbert, AZ, Mother-in-Law, Arlene Mertel of Oglesby, in-laws: Nancy (Joe) Bernardoni, Barb Sarver, and Kathy Koscielski.

He was preceded in death by his Maternal and Paternal grandparents, mother Phyllis Heider, his father-in-law Melvin Mertel, and in-laws, Henry and Kathy Mertel and Art Sarver.

Pallbearers will be his brothers (Gary, James, & Robert), his godchildren (Brock Heider, Kurt Heider, and Ashlee Heider) and his brother-in-law, Joe Bernardoni.
