Obituary for Ronald Windy
Ronald “Ron” Windy 84 of LaSalle passed away December 13, 2020 at Heritage Health in Peru. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held Saturday April 24 at 11 in the Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle. Reverend Thomas Otto Pastor of LaSalle Catholic Parishes will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Hyacinth Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the LaSalle Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group. A memorial visitation will be in the funeral home Saturday from 9 until the time of services. (Everyone is required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.)
Ron was born on June 22, 1936 to John and Regina (Kierski) Windy.
He graduated from LaSalle Peru High School.
He served his country joining the Army in 1955. He served until 1958. He served his time in Germany.
He was employed by Electrical Utilities LaSalle, until they moved out of state. He then worked at Phillips Joanna in Ladd until he retired.
In his youth he enjoyed playing softball Essl’s and Pakula’s Tap. He enjoyed fishing locally and in Canada. He enjoyed gardening coming to the conclusion the less he weeded the more produce he got. Playing cards after he retired was enjoyable to him. He loved being with his family and seeing friends, drinking coffee and talking with them at John’s Place in Peru. Ron and his friends through their discussions could solve any problems. When Ron’s family needed him, they would just call there or drive over and see him. In honor of Ron anyone attending please wear and White Sox or John’s Place attire. He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan, watching their games and most of all be in his glory when they would beat the Cubs.
He is survived by: 1 Brother: Arthur (Butch) (Mary Ann) Windy of LaSalle.
2 Nephews: Gregory (Karen) Windy of Peru, and Raymond (Amy) Windy of Bloomington.
2 Great Nieces: Michelle and Kylie
2 Great Nephews: Brent and Brayden.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
