Richard "Dick" Koontz 82 of LaSalle passed away at 9:05 PM on Sunday December 25, 2016 in Illinois Valley Community Hospital after a 5 year battle with pulmonary fibrosis
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 29th at 10:30 AM in St. Mary's Church in Peru
Burial in St. Hyacinth Cemetery
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 28th from 4:00 - 7:00 PM with a scripture service at 6:30 and Thursday, December 29th from 9:30 - 10:30 AM in Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle
Born on September 19, 1934 in LaSalle to Jack and Amelia (Fitzkee) Koontz
Married Joyce Jasiek on May 14, 1983
Graduated from LaSalle Peru Twp. High School in 1952
Dick worked for Sundstrand Corporation for many years, and was Plant Manager and Western Regional Manager for MetoKote Corporation in Peru. He was an ambassador, membership coordinator and on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Valley Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the board of directors for St. Margaret's Hospital in Spring Valley. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Oglesby. He loved to sing and was the tenor for the TuneTippers Barbershop Quartet. He was also an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and shared in the joy of their World Series victory.

Preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack Koontz and sister Phyllis Stachowicz
