Richard was born June 23, 1927, in Chicago to Michael and Marie (Wyciskalla) Dudek. He attended La Salle-Peru Township High School, graduating in 1945. Dick went on to become a member of the Illinois National Guard. On May 23, 1953 Dick married the love of his life, Irene Jozwiak of La Salle.
Dick worked at the Union Carbide plant in Ottawa for many years before joining his brother Norbert at Letterkraft Printers where he worked until his retirement in 1990. During his time at Letterkraft he graduated cum laude from Illinois Valley Community College, a source of great pride for him.
Dick was a long-standing member of the La Salle Rotary Club enjoying the camaraderie of his club members and supporting the various charitable activities the club conducted for the local community, he was a 47-year member of which 43 years were perfect attendance. He became a Paul Harris Fellow in 1994 and was past president from 1976-1977 and was a longtime board member. He also received a life time achievement award for being the first and only member to raise $250,000 to support the Rotary's charitable mission.
Over the years, he attended many football, basketball and baseball games at both L-P and St. Bede, enjoying the opportunity to cheer on both local schools. While Dick enjoyed fishing and vacationing in northern Wisconsin, he relished nothing more than simply spending time with friends and family. His family was his pride and joy. Dick so very much enjoyed people and loved bringing a smile to everyone's face. Whether it was a story or a joke, he wanted the best for everyone.
He is survived by two sons, Richard (Colleen) of Malvern, Pa., and Dr. Robert (Michelle) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Clay, Tristan, Quinn and Brock, Haley and Sydney; and loving nieces and nephews; and one brother, Norbert (Betty) Dudek of Utica.
