Obituary for Patricia A. Duchaine

Patricia A. Duchaine, age 83, of Peru, passed away on May 23 at Manor Court in Peru. A funeral mass will be held Thursday June 15th at 11 in St. Patrick’s Church. The Very Reverend Thomas Otto Pastor of LaSalle Catholic Parishes will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery. Full Military rites will be accorded. Visitation will be in the church on Thursday from 9 until the time of services. The Burgess Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Patricia was born March 3, 1940 in Washington DC, to Jim and Aileen (Lathrop) Cumberworth. She was the oldest of 14 children. Upon graduation she enlisted in the US Marine Corps where she met her husband William E. Duchaine Jr. She was a loving mother of 6 and an adoring grandmother.

With her boundless energy Patricia followed a career in nursing, which she considered the most honorable path that one could take. She became Vice President of Nursing at St. Margaret’s and was respected by everyone with whom she worked. She spent countless hours giving back to the community through many organizations and activities, including St. Patrick’s Church and School, LaSalle Little League and Senior League and was a member of LaSalle City Council.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Manor Court in Peru, Burgess Funeral Home and Father Tom Otto.

Patricia is survived by Four children, Kevin (Terry) Duchaine of Edwards, IL; Bill (Bobette) Duchaine of Sheboygan, WI; Mary Duchaine of Peru, IL; and Eric (Victoria) Duchaine of Auburn, CA; Twelve grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Aileen Cumberworth; her husband William E. Duchaine Jr; sons James “Jimmy” Duchaine and Andrew “Andy” Duchaine and 3 brothers Michael, James, and Daniel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Horizon House in Peru.
