Obituary for Nancy Bierbom

Nancy Bierbom 88 of Utica, with her family at her side passed away peacefully on November 10th at OSF St. Elizabeth in Ottawa. A funeral mass will be Friday November 15th at 11AM At St. Mary’s Church in Utica. The Very Reverend Paul Carlson Pastor of Holy Family Church in Oglesby will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Charles, and daughter Cynthia. Visitation will be Thursday November 14th at the Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle from 4PM to 7PM. Additional visitation will be in the church on Friday  from 10AM until the time of services.

She was born on December 21, 1935 at St. Mary’s Hospital in LaSalle to Lincoln and Minnie (Cherry) Carter.

She married the love of her life, Charles H. Bierbom on October 2, 1954 at St. Joseph Church in LaSalle. They had a wonderful forty four years together until he passed in 1999.

For over thirty years she was co-owner of Northeastern Illinois Rub-R-Wall of LaSalle. She was also co-owner for thirty years of Chuck’s Heating and Air conditioning of Utica. Her most rewarding time was being a homemaker for her family. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Utica. She was a past board member of the Utica Community Ambulance Service. She had a passion for cooking, and baking. Her passion for being in the kitchen went beyond her home. On Monday mornings she would go to the church rectory of St. Mary’s and was a member of the Ravioli Ladies of St. Mary’s in which made homemade raviolis. She loved and cherish being with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children: Raymond (Bette Jo) Bierbom of Alma, MI., Steven “Buck” (Margie) Bierbom of LaSalle, Sheila (Jeff) Sweetland of Beloit, WI., Mark (Debbie) Bierbom of Utica, and Douglas (Jamie Lewis) Bierbom of Utica.

Nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews, and one sister; Joan (Chuck) Loch of LaSalle, and her bonus children; Robin (Jerry) Hancock, and Dave “Beanie” Siebert.

She is preceded by: her husband (1999), one daughter; Cynthia (1977), one grandson; Kevin Sweetland (1998) and one sister; Rosalie Entwistle (1961).

Pallbearers will be; Nick, Nate, and Kendra Bierbom, Jeff Sweetland, Dave Siebert, Jerry Hancock, Tim Buckley, and Manny Mendoza.
