Monica “Mickey” Margaret Kozel
Monica (Lindenmier) Kozel 94 of Peru formerly of Dimmick Twp passed away Monday Feb 23 at 9:13AM in Manor Court in Peru. A funeral mass will be Friday Feb 27 at 10 in Holy Trinity Church in Cherry. Reverend Paul Fixsen will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery in La Salle. Visitation will be in the church from 9 until the time of services. The Burgess Funeral Home in La Salle is handling the arrangements.
She was born on Feb 19, 1921 to Joseph and Emily (Mc Grath) in La Salle
She attended La Salle-Peru Township High School. During her senior year her father passed away and she returned to the family farm. She worked the family farm with her two brothers Lester and Gilbert Lindenmier. For a time she was the housekeeper for Elanor Wenzel. She was also employed by Westclox in Peru where she met Max her husband to be.
. She married Max Kozel on Oct 16, 1948 in Sacred Heart Church in Dimmick Twp
She belonged to Holy Trinity Church. She was a member of the Troy Grove Saddle Club, Dimmick Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society. She was an avid sports fan, especially the Cubs. She belonged to an all women’s baseball team for westclox.. She was fond of animals and the land itself. She was truly dedicated towards her farm land working alongside her husband until the age of 84. Her biggest attribute was her funny and vibrant personality, along with her constant willingness to help others. Her biggest conquest was being a 40 year plus survivor of cancer.

2 daughters; Mary (Paul) Clark of Poplar Grove, IL and Barbara (Robert) Greer of Grove Oklahoma
2 sons; Michael of Peru and Daniel (Linda) Kozel of La Salle
7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren
2 sisters; Loretta Harmon of Plainfield IL, Florence Blalack of Scotsdale Arizona
Preceded in death by; her husband (2010) and 2 brothers.
