Obituary for Mary Barbara "Barb" Small
Mary Barbara “Barb” Small 85 of Utica passed away peacefully on September 1 st at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will take place Friday September 12 th from 5 to 6:45 with a small service at 6:45 in the Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle.
Barb was born on April 10, 1940 at St. Mary’s Hospital in LaSalle to Edward Adam, and Ethel (Pettit) Kotowski. She attended LaSalle-Peru High School and LPO college.
She married the man who filled her heart, Kenneth Small on April 23, 1960 at St. Patrick’s Church in LaSalle. They spent a wonderful sixty-four years until he passed on September 3, 2014. She dedicated herself each and every day of her marriage to her husband, later on to her son, daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved being involved and traveling to each and everyone’s events. She loved the outdoors and being on the farm. She cherished as simple as feeding the birds, to taking pride in her gardening, shrubs, and plants. All aspects of the Christmas Season was her favorite time.
She is survived by: one daughter; Cindy (Tim) Durham of El Paso, IL., one son; Mark (MaryAnn) Small of Waltham TWP. Three grandchildren; Kaitlyn Small, Kyle (Abbey) Small, and Andrew (Pamela) Durham. Two great grandchildren; Evelyn and Eleanor Small.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, Kenneth 2014, and one daughter; Lisa Marie in infancy.
