Obituary for Mary Ann Newell
Mary Ann Newell 81 of Peru and formally of Utica passed away July 31 at 11:45 PM at St. Margaret’s Health Peru in the Emergency Room shortly after arrival. A funeral mas will Wednesday August 4 at 11 in St. Mary’s Church in Utica. Reverend Michael Driscoll Pastor of St. Mary’s Church in Utica will officiate… Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Wednesday from 10 to 11. The Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle is handling the arrangements.
She was born in St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley on March 8, 1940 to Joseph and Emma (Loebach) Michalik.
She married Stanley “Corky” Newell on September 3, 1956 at St. Peter and Paul Church in Leonore, IL.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Utica.
She was devoted through out her life taking care of her family, and spending time with family and friends. She savored her time in baking and sewing. She cherished quilting with the ladies of St. Joseph Church in Peru. She was a member to the Angels of Hope sewing organization. They would create these angels and send them out through out the United States for families that lost loved ones or for illness.
She is survived by: her husband of 64 years,
1 Daughter: Kathy (Doug) Ragan of Peru.
1 Grandson: Will Ragan of Portland Oregon
1 Sister: Connie (Daniel) Snell of Utica.
She is preceded in death by: her parents,
1 Son: Joseph (1975)
1 Daughter: Patricia (1958)
