Mark Wren 53 of La Salle passed away Tuesday May 12 at 5:29AM in St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial mass will be at noon on Monday May 18 in St. Hyacinth Church in La Salle. The very Reverend Antonio Dittmer Pastor of La Salle Catholic Churches will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Hyacinth Cemetery. A memorial visitation will be Monday in the church from 9 until the time of services. The Burgess Funeral Home in La Salle is handling the arrangements.
He was born on October 25, 1961 in La Salle to Bernard and Sylvia (Castelli) Wren of La Salle.
He married Carol Koenig on May 21, 1988 in St. Hyacinth Church in La Salle.
He was a dispatcher for the City of La Salle Police Department from June 3, 1985 until July 13, 1989. On July 13, 1989 he was sworn in as full time Police Officer for the City, and was later promoted to Sergeant to the present time. He was hired in Utica in May of 1998 as a Police Officer and was later promoted to Chief of Police to the present time.
He was a member of St. Hyacinth Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus #792 in La Salle. He coached and served on the board for La Salle Girls Softball League for several years.
He is survived by: his wife,
2 daughters: Lauren and Haley Wren both at home,
3 brothers: Martin (Mary) Wren of Peru, Christopher (Angela) Wren of La Salle,
Daniel (Heidi) Wren of Oglesby
Several nieces and nephews
He is preceded in death by; his parent and 1 brother Brent (2010)
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for his favorite charities.
