Majorie M. Kelly 82 of Utica passed away at home surrounded by her family. Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded. The family will have a Celebration of Life at later time. The Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle is assisting the family.
Marge was born on June 6th, 1942 in LaSalle to John and Laura (Labens) McLaughlin.
She married the love of her life Patrick Kelly on February 26th, 1966. Together they made a life full of love, family, and travel. They raised their six children in the home they built in Troy Grove, IL. From there they worked and lived in Valdez, Alaska, and returned to make a home in Utica, IL.
Marge could do anything. She could catch it, clean it, cook it, build it, fix it, grow it, or raise it. She was unpredictable in the best way. You never knew what would come out of her mouth. It could be a gardening tip, a life lesson, or even a raunchy tale. She was laid back, and a great listener. She made everyone feel welcome, and she would let you be whoever you wanted.
She loved wildlife, and the outdoors. She could build the best campfire. She loved puzzles and games. She hated to lose, but pretended she did not. She loved her family, and she is a tremendous loss.
She is survived by her husband Pat of Utica. Her daughter Veronica Gehant of Oxford, WI. Three sons; Steve (Lisa) of Denver, Co., Tim (Tammy) of Hickman, TN., and Robb (Tracie) Kelly of Mendota, IL. Daughter in-law; Jill Kelly. Two sisters; Lorraine (Kenneth) Kasza of LaSalle, and Joan Kofoid of Marseilles.
Twelve grandchildren; Tasha, Marianne, Adam, Kevin (Maggie), Michael, Logan, Luke, Falynne (Jace), Patrick, Lauryn, Shannon, and Tally. Ten great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Her god daughter’ Mandy and family friend; Susan.
She is preceded in death by; her parents, her son; Brian in 2019, her daughter’ Barbara in 2002, six brothers, and two sisters.
