Lori Moriarity-Hamalle

May 30, 1963 – July 6, 2025

Lori Moriarity-Hamalle, 62, of Ottawa, IL, passed away unexpectedly on July 6, 2025.  Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded.  A memorial visitation will be Friday July 11 from 4 to 6 at the Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle.  A Celebration of Life will follow at Mort's located at 1349 5th Street LaSalle, just east of Casey's.

Born on May 30, 1963, at St. Mary's Hospital in LaSalle, Lori was known for her compassionate heart, strong will, and deep love for her family. She spent many years working as a Certified Nursing Assistant, where her natural ability to care for others touched countless lives.

Lori loved fiercely and unconditionally. She was the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone she loved. Stubborn and opinionated in the best of ways, Lori had a personality that filled the room and a heart that embraced everyone she met. She was a proud mother—but her greatest joy in life was becoming “Gammy.”

Being “Gammy” to her grandchildren, Eric and Greta, meant everything to Lori. It was the role she cherished most. Whether it was a hug, a story, or simply spending time with them, her love for her grandchildren was boundless and unmatched. She poured her heart into every moment she shared with them and lit up with pride whenever she talked about them.

A devoted Chicago Cubs fan, Lori rarely missed a game and cheered passionately for her team. Her favorite times were those spent with family, whether it was a simple visit or a special gathering.

Lori is survived by her loving husband, Jay Hamalle; her children, Tyler Phillips and Morgan Kremer; her beloved grandchildren, Eric and Greta; and her brothers, Ed Moriarity and Danny Moriarity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Joann Moriarity, and her brother, William “Bill” Moriarity.

Lori’s absence leaves a hole that can never be filled. Her love, laughter, and legacy as “Gammy” will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
