Linda A. Bokus 77 of LaSalle passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her side on Friday June 27. A funeral mass will be Wednesday July 2nd at 11AM at St. Valentine Church in Peru. The Very Reverend Gary Blake, Pastor of St. Rose of Lima Parish will officiate. She will be laid to rest at St. Vincent Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church from 9 until 11. The Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle is handling the arrangements.
Linda was born on April 3, 1948 at St. Mary’s Hospital in LaSalle to Edward and Vivian (Schwamberger) Yaklich.
She married the love of her life and best friend Duane Bokus on June 15, 1968 at St. Roch’s Church in LaSalle.
She was devoted throughout her life in helping people, in which for over twenty years she served as a caregiver (CNA). For ten years she was employed by Illinois Community College as the cafeteria director. She was a member of St. Valentine Church. She enjoyed being in her kitchen cooking and baking for family and friends. Throughout the year she loved swimming at the YMCA in Peru, and her dancing in her Zumba class. Watching her grandchildren play sports thrilled her, no matter if they won or lost. She had a fondness in listening to music. She would play bingo when she found the time. Loving her pets throughout the years was a calming factor to her. Each year she would be so proud of her gardening and flowers. Most of all she cherished being around family and friends.
She is survived by;
her husband of fifty-seven years, one son; Tim Bokus (Katrina Fraley) of LaSalle, and one daughter; Gina (Brett) Burkiewicz of LaSalle.
One brother; Gary Yaklich of Princeton, one sister; Marie (Gary) Urbanski of LaSalle.
Five Grandchildren; Alyssa, Bree, and Ezra Bokus, Kaden, and Konnor Burkiewicz.
Many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister; Debbie Pyszka (2017), and one son; Scott Duane Bokus (1971) and one grandson; Kyle John Burkiewicz (2006).
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for her favorite charities.
Her legacy of living life will be cherished and carried on through her family.
