Obituary for Larry O. Ballard

Larry O. Ballard 66 of Sandwich passed away peacefully on February 19 at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in Dekalb. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be on Thursday March 30 at 11 in the Burgess Funeral Home in La Salle. Burial will follow at Peru City Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be in the funeral home on March 30 from 9 until the time of services. Larry being a loyal Cubs fan the family is asking for those in attendance to please wear any cubs attire or just the colors of the Cubs.

Larry was born on October 12, 1956 in Sandwich Il. to Otis H. and Anna (Michaelson) Ballard.

Larry graduated from Serena High School, Class of 1975.

When Larry was 21 years old, he married his high school sweetheart, Cindy Kay Halsey on October 7, 1978. Settling in the Earlville and Sandwich area. They celebrated 20 years of marriage prior to Cindy’s passing in 1998. During that time, they welcomed 2 beautiful children, Jennifer Cheryl, and Jonathon Eric.

Larry was a die hard Cubs fan. He enjoyed many sports, but his heart was always the Chicago Cubs. Larry spent many years working at Open Door in Sandwich, IL.

Surviving Larry are; his daughter: Jennifer C. Ballard of Cortland, IL., and his son: Jonathon E. (Alicia) Ballard of Sandwich. His brothers; Jeffry (Sylvia) Ballard of Peru, David (Linda) Ballard of Peru, Terry (Tina) Ballard of Ottawa, and Kevin (Shery) Ballard of Peru. Sister-in-law: Carol Halsey of Cortland. Many nieces and nephews. Friend Tammy Verdeyen, of Somonauk.

He preceded in death by: his wife Cindy, father Otis, and mother Anna.

We would like express a special Thank you to Dr. Jamal, and all the staff members at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in Dekalb, Promedica Hospice, for all the support and for your excellent care.
