Obituary for Karen Diane Lawniczak
Karen D Lawniczak 60 of La Salle passed away June 9 with her family at her side in OSF Richard L Owens Hospice Home in Peoria IL. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be Monday June 19 at 7PM in the Burgess Funeral Home in La Salle. Pastor Brent Todd of the Grace United Methodist Church in La Salle will officiate. A memorial visitation will be from 5 until the time services. The Burgess Funeral Home in La Salle is handling the arrangements.
She was born on April 1, 1957 in La Salle to Leroy and Jeanette (Lehman) Kolowski.
She was a graduate of La Salle-Peru High School in 1975.
She married her soul mate Michael “Sumo” Lawniczak on April 1, 1991 in Montello Wisconsin. They were married until his untimely death on March 9, 2016.
She was employed by Connecting Point Computer Center in Peru for 16 years. She was also employed by the City of Peru as a part time dispatcher for the Peru Police Department, and worked for the Illinois Security Services as an armed guard. Throughout the years being employed of the said mention; she was very grateful for the friendships she made and the caring they expressed and showed throughout her illness.
Her family especially her grandchildren were her number one priority in which she relish each day of her life. In all of her adventures she was grateful for each and every one who was part of it and loved them dearly. She enjoyed doing volunteer work from being a Girl Scout Leader, to being on several boards including the Illinois Valley Children’s Choir, Friends for Tots, and the La Salle County against Domestic Violence Program.
She is survived by; 2 daughters: Melissa Turner of La Salle and Patricia (Turner) (Tommy; Chief Petty Officer of the United States Navy) Lamkin of Chesapeake Virginia.
6 grandchildren: Nikolas and Katlyn Muzzarelli, Sierra, Isabella, Evan and Jesse Lamkin.
3 sisters: Linda (Earl) Olson of Mendota, Mary George of Troy Grove, and Janice (Dennis) Shaughessy of grand Ridge.
1 brother: Jeffery Kolowski of Peru.
She had several nieces and nephews, a brother in-law Andrew Lawniczak and a sister in- law Melanie (Lawniczak) Miller.
Preceded in death by: her parents, and her Husband Michael in 2016
