June Brafman
June Brafman 81 of Peru passed away Feb 28 at 10:40PM in Manor Court in Peru. A funeral mass will be Wednesday March 4 at 12 in St. Patrick’s Church in La Salle. The Reverend Paul Carlson of La Salle Catholic Parishes will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Davenport IA. Visitation will be in the church on Wednesday from 10 to 12. The Burgess Funeral Home in La Salle is handling the arrangements.
She was born on June 18, 1933 to Charles and Mary (Taylor) Baumgartner of South Bend IN.
She married Larry Brafman on August 6, 1988 in Carmel IN.
June entered religious life, joining the Sisters of St. Joseph of Tipton, Indiana. She taught for many years In Catholic grade schools in Indiana. She left the convent n 1986 and married her husband in 1988. She earned a Master's Degree from Notre Dame in the teaching of mathematics.

After their marriage June and her husband moved to California where they worked for the Department of Health and Human Services in the Bay Area. She was very active in her parish church, and played the organ for Masses and had a wonderful singing voice. She served the poor as a volunteer in the St. Vincent DePaul Society. . She volunteered in a soup kitchen. She had great compassion for the poor and marginalized. Her generosity was her hallmark. She enjoyed the great natural beauty of California, especially Yosemite, Lake Tahoe and the ocean.

She and her husband moved back to the Midwest in 2004 and settled in Peru. .
June loved arts and crafts. She made many afghans and baby blankets for family members. She made rosaries and gave them to people. She had also worked with pottery. She was beautiful and created beautiful works of art.

She loved her plants and gardening. She loved to read. She greatly enjoyed her weekly bridge game with her friends. She loved her family and the family reunions in the summer and before Christmas were high points in her life.

She is survived by; her husband
3 brothers: Richard Baumgartner of Vandalia MI, Charles (Elaine) Baumgartner of South Bend IN, and James Baumgartner of Watseka, IL
1 sister; Sister Veronica Baumgartner of Wheeling WV,
Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a special friend Yvonna Palmer of Vandalia MI
Preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for her favorite charities
