Joseph M. Carey 86 of Utica passed away at 4:43 AM on Friday, December 21, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family after an extended illness
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 28th at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s Church in Utica with Rev. Michael Driscoll officiating
Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Utica with Full Military honors conducted by American Legion Pierce Davis Post #731.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 27th from 4:00 - 7:00 PM in Burgess Funeral Home in Utica and Friday 9:00 AM until the time of services at the church.
Born on May 2,1932 in LaSalle to Michael and Elsie (Early) Carey
He graduated from Lp High School. He continued his education in barber college in Peoria.
Served in United States Navy 1952 - 1956
Married Teresa Kubiak on November 29, 1970 in Ottawa
Joe worked for Physicians Mutual Insurance for 25 years and was a barber with his father
Joe was a member of the Utica School Board for 10 years, serve 3 terms as Village President of Utica ending in 2000 and in November of 2000, he was elected LaSalle County Circuit Clerk for 3 terms before retiring in December 2012
He was a member of Knights of Columbus Father Marquette Council 1775, American Legion, Democratic Precinct committeeman for 45 years, and the Utica White Sox Club

8 Great Grandchildren Liam Lauer, Max and Grace Dugger, Nathan, Julia, Jolene Stuart and Hadley, Brody Frischkorn
Preceded in death by Parents, 1 Son Joey on September 1, 1978, 5 Brothers and 3 Sisters
