John Pohar, Jr., 82, of La Salle, passed away at 1:00 PM, Sunday, January 4th, he had been in ill health for the past 11 months
Funeral Mass will be held at ST. HYACINTH'S CHURCH, at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 8th, with Abbott Philip Davey O.S.B., officiating
Burial in St. Vincent Cemetery
Visitation will be on Wednesday 4:00 - 8:00 PM in BURGESS FUNERAL HOME in LaSalle and Thursday 9:00 - 10:00 AM in ST. HYACINTH'S CHURCH
Born on October 18, 1932 in LaSalle to Slovenian immigrants John and Josephine (Brekan) Pohar Sr.
Married Barbara Borys on June 10, 1961 in St. Valentine Church in Peru
At the age of sixteen he went to work with his father John Pohar Sr. in the excavating business. In 1969, with his father, sister Josephine, and brother Frank they formed John Pohar & Sons, Inc. He worked as an owner-operator for the business and was dedicated to his job and family everyday of his life. John was honest and hard working and instilled those qualities in his children and grandchildren. He gave generously to the community and was always willing to share his time, talent, and treasure with others
