Obituary for Joan "Joanie" Samolinski
Joan “Joanie” Samolinski, 76, of LaSalle, passed away peacefully with her family at her side
on February 27 at 7:02 PM in her residence.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be on Saturday, March 20th at
Noon in the Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle.
Reverend Tom Otto, Pastor of LaSalle Catholic Parishes, will officiate. Burial will follow at
Oakwood Cemetery.
A memorial visitation will be in the funeral home Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of
services.
Joanie was born on February 11, 1945 at St. Mary’s Hospital in LaSalle to Daniel and Lucille
(Batty) Webb.
She married Kenneth “Ken” Samolinski on April 27, 1963 at St. Hyacinth Church in LaSalle.

Joanie’s number one job, in which she loved dearly, was taking care of her family. She loved
attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and cheering them on from the sidelines. She was
always selflessly ready and willing to help anyone in their time of need. Joanie enjoyed
volunteering at the Lighted Way and City Center Rehab. She also enjoyed crocheting, needle
point, golfing, and fishing in her spare time. Joanie also snuggled often with her beloved dog,
Tasha.

Joanie was the water billing clerk for the City of LaSalle for over 20 years.

She is survived by: her husband of 57 years
1 Son: Scott Samolinski of LaSalle
1 Daughter: Denise “DeDe” Ruel LaSalle
4 Grandchildren: Austin (Katy) Ruel, Taylor Ruel, Keegan and Trevor Samolinski.
1 Sister: Audrey (John) Andersen of Orlando Florida.
1 Sister-in-law: Carol Webb Flaherty of Peru, IL, married to James Webb at his time of passing.
Survived by many wonderful brother-in-law’s, sister-in-law’s, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by: her parents and one brother, James Webb.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be donated to Cops for Cancer.
