Obituary for Jerome "Jerry" Simkins
Jerome “Jerry” Simkins, 78, of Peru, Illinois passed away unexpectedly on April 25, 2022. Jerry was raised in a loving home in LaMoille, IL and graduated from LaMoille High School.
In 1964 Jerry married Joyce (Caldwell) Simkins in Arlington, IL. Together they had three children, Kevin Jerome Simkins of Chicago, IL, Rose (Simkins) James of Sugar Grove, IL, and Deborah (Simkins) Meyer and his son-in-law Eric Meyer of Marseilles, IL. Along with his children he is also survived by five grandchildren; Connor and Sophia James, Eva, Nathan, and Sara Meyer. Two brothers; Roger (Jean) Simkins, Richard (Debbie) Simkins, and his sister Kathy (William) Kirkman, and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Howard and Gladys Simkins, his sister Judy (Alan) Stiel and son-in-law Tim James.
Jerry retired a proud member of the IBEW Local 176 Electricians Union.
He had an immeasurable personality and loved nothing more than spending time with his wife, siblings, children, and grandchildren. His limitless joy for boat rides, Cubs and Bears games, golf, bean bags, euchre, Rips visits, wintering in Arizona, Harley rides, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and a project done “right” will remain in all of our hearts.
Visitation will be held at Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday April 28th. Additional visitation at 10:00-10:45 a.m. Friday at Burgess Funeral Home. Mass will be held at St. Valentines Church in Peru at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 29th Immediately followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery in Arlington, IL
