In 1964 Jerry married Joyce (Caldwell) Simkins in Arlington, IL. Together they had three children, Kevin Jerome Simkins of Chicago, IL, Rose (Simkins) James of Sugar Grove, IL, and Deborah (Simkins) Meyer and his son-in-law Eric Meyer of Marseilles, IL. Along with his children he is also survived by five grandchildren; Connor and Sophia James, Eva, Nathan, and Sara Meyer. Two brothers; Roger (Jean) Simkins, Richard (Debbie) Simkins, and his sister Kathy (William) Kirkman, and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Howard and Gladys Simkins, his sister Judy (Alan) Stiel and son-in-law Tim James.
Jerry retired a proud member of the IBEW Local 176 Electricians Union.
He had an immeasurable personality and loved nothing more than spending time with his wife, siblings, children, and grandchildren. His limitless joy for boat rides, Cubs and Bears games, golf, bean bags, euchre, Rips visits, wintering in Arizona, Harley rides, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and a project done “right” will remain in all of our hearts.
