Obituary for Jean Raiter
Jean Raiter 80 of Utica passed away in her residence on March 8 at 7:45 AM. A funeral service will be Monday March 12 at 11AM in the Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle. Pastor Betty Delgado of Trinity United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in La Salle. Visitation will be Monday in the funeral home from 9AM until the time of services.
She was born in St. Mary’s Hospital in LaSalle on March 3, 1938 to Burton and Winifred (Knight) Mayers.
She married Bernie Raiter on October 2, 1957 in Fort Collins Colorado.
She work for Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru for over 25 years as a ward clerk. In her earlier years she worked at several base hospitals where her husband was station at the time. Throughout her life she enjoyed sewing, working with ceramics, decorating and working in her garden.
She is survived by:

2 Sons: Darren (Cathy) Raiter of La Salle, and Jeff Raiter of Peru.
1 Daughter: Brenda (Dave) Bernardin of Naples Florida.
5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
2 Sisters: Jackie Gould of Bloomington, Illinois and Jo Ellen Lipka of Peru.
She is preceded in death by: her parent and 3 brothers (Jimmy, Jerry, and Jay Paul Mayers)
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for her favorite charities.
