James (Jim) Pelszynski (79) of Shorewood, Il passed peacefully on September 22, in Lightways Hospice Home, Joliet, Il in the company of his loving family.
Jim was born in LaSalle, IL. on January 26, 1944 to Stanley and Isabelle Pelszynski. Jim grew up in Utica and graduated from LP High School and Joliet Junior College.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1966. A year of that duty was spent at Camp McGovern on the Demilitarized Zone in Korea. He then served the people of the City of LaSalle as a policeman from 1972-1974. He furthered his law enforcement career with the Illinois State Police from 1974 - 1993. His entire ISP service was done in District 5-Joliet. He retired with the rank of Master Sergeant.
Jim married Marjorie Gualandi (Cedar Point, IL) on August 26, 1967 at Sacred Heart Church in Granville, IL.
They have two daughters Lana (Jim) Johnson of Darien IL and Tricia (Vinko) Kucinic of Hilliard, OH.
He was Papa to five grandchildren: Madelyn (Carter) Schmidt of Upper Arlington, Ohio, Paige Kucinic of Hilliard, Ohio; and Samuel Johnson, Casey Johnson and Cate Johnson of Darien, Il.
Jim is also survived by brothers Ronald of Peru, IL and John of Ormond Beach, Fl. And a sister Arlene Pusser of Spring Valley, Il.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Isabelle Pelszynski, his brothers Gerald, Richard, Robert, and his sister Carolyn.
Jim loved his family and his country. He was a Bears fan and rooted for Notre Dame and The Ohio State University. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Police. He also was a supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project.

Arrangements are being handled by Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle. A Scripture Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday September 30 at 12:30. Fr. Gregory Jarzombek will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1030 until the time of services. Illinois State Police Honor Guard will be at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Peru City Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by the LaSalle Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group
