Obituary for James "Jim" Housby
James “Jim” Housby 79 of Oglesby and formally of La Salle passed away on December 1 at 11:05PM at Aperion Care in Spring Valley with his loving family at his side. A funeral service will be Monday December 6 at 6:30 in the Burgess Funeral Home in La Salle. Pastor Chico Perez of the Abundant Life Church in La Salle will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 4 until the time of services in the funeral home. Additional visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday December 7 from 9 to 10. Burial will follow at Peru City Cemetery. Full Military Rites will be conducted by the La Salle- Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group.
Jim was born in La Salle on January 21, 1942 to John and Gertrude (Bernard) Housby.
He married Shelby Jean Perkins in May of 1990 in Ottawa.
He was employed as an over the road truck driver, and also locally for many years.
He enjoyed the outdoors by motorcycling, traveling, hunting or fishing. He would never pass up an opportunity to play a game of euchre. He loved spending time with family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it.
He is survived by his children: Lisa (Nick) Carrico, Betsy Cisek, Brian (Lisa) Coan, Mark Guyon, Jeremy (Erika) Dunaway, Lori (Joe) Newell, Donnie (LuAnn) Coan and John Smith.
23 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren
3 Sisters: Nancy (Jerry) Bejster, Hazel Conrad, and Sandra “Cookie” (Ken) Bland.
Many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, his wife (2011), Siblings: Margaret Ewing, Thelma Conrad, Gertrude Garncarz, Robert, John, and Edward Housby, Jacqueline Boyd, Melva Dilling, Ella Davis and 2 brothers at birth.
