Obituary for Helen Kozel
Helen S. Kozel 85 of LaSalle passed away in Illinois Valley Community Hospital on Monday March 18 at 11:03PM shortly after arrival. Visitation and a Funeral Mass will be Friday March 22 in St. Hyacinth Church in LaSalle. Visitation will be in the church from 9:30 until the time of the mass. The Mass will be at 11. The Very Reverend Antonio Dittmer Pastor of the LaSalle Churches will officiate. Burial will be in St. Hyacinth Cemetery in LaSalle. The Burgess Funeral Home of LaSalle is handling of the arrangements. Helen was born on August 17, 1927 in LaSalle to Stanley and Theophilia (Mis) Zmudka. She married Stanley Kozel on September 25, 1948 in St. Hyacinth Church in LaSalle. She worked at Westclox for several years and most of all she was a home maker. She was a member of the former St. Roch’s / Ressurection Church in LaSalle, and a member of St. Hyacinth Church. She was member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a life time member of loving her family, friends and cooking. She was extremely proud of her grandson. She is survived by a daughter Karen (Paul) Basalay of Peru, a brother Joseph (Jean) Zmudka of LaSalle, a sister Irene Domkowski of Chicago, and a grandson Nick. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2003, a daughter Susie, and a brother Frank. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family to be given to Helen’s favorite charities.
