Harriet (Rosczyk) Bartashius, aged 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 4th, 2024 at Allure in Peru. She was born October 13th, 1925 at St. Mary’s hospital in LaSalle.
She grew up during the Great Depression and was a teenager when World War II broke out. During the war she spent much of her time assisting her mother and working at Westclox, manufacturing necessary components for the US military. While she recalled her youth as being a relatively somber period with most of the men deployed, she was never one to complain.
Harriet met Joseph Bartashius shortly after his return from the War and the two married on January 31, 1951. Born into their Union were 3 children, Jerry, Dan, and Cindy.
Harriet was a loving parent, grandmother and great grandmother. Always putting her family before herself, she cherished her years as a homemaker. In her spare time, she kept active with many hobbies, including baking, sewing, crocheting, and reading. In later years, she enjoyed being a part of her granddaughters' lives, whether it was sharing a Cubs game or being a spectator for their scholastic and sporting activities.
Harriet was survived by 2 children, Cindy (Bartashius) Miglio of LaSalle, IL and Dan (Kelly) Bartashius of Ridgway, CO; 6 grandchildren, Amy (Michael) Gift, Janelle (Luke) Smith, Ryan Bartashius, Jason Bartashius, Jenny (Robert) Cina, and Raquel (Mike) Pierce; 9 great grandchildren, Avery and Alex Smith, Ella, Carter and Gavin Gift, Riley and Payton Bartashius, and August and Quinn Pierce.
Harriet was preceded in death by her eldest son Jerry (2006) and her beloved husband Joseph (2006), as well as her eight siblings Sophie, Stanley, Chester, Rose, Florence, Josephine, Genevieve and Irene.
