Obituary for Grace Genevieve Oklesen
Grace Genevieve Oklesen 101 of Peru, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on December 27 at St. Paul’s Medical Center in Mendota. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday January 2nd at 11 in St. Hyacinth Church. The Very Reverend Paul Carlson, Pastor of Holy Family Parish in Oglesby will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Tuesday from 10 to 11. The Burgess Funeral Home of LaSalle is handling the arrangements.
Grace was born on November 29, 1922 at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley to Charles and Mary (Kozloski) Meadowcraft.
She married the love of her life, and best friend John Oklesen on September 12, 1941 at St. Mary’s Church in Depue, IL. They enjoyed their seventy four years of being together, until John’s passing in 2015.
She cherish all the years of being home, taking of her family.
She was member of St. Hyacinth Church, and formally Resurrection Parish until it closed. She was a member of the Resurrection Altar and Rosary Society. Spending time with family and friends, she cherish each moment, especially the grandchildren. She loved being in the kitchen cooking and baking for all to enjoy.
She is survived by:
Two Sons: John (Kathy) Oklesen of Eustis, FL., and Richard (Cathy) Oklesen of LaSalle.
One Daughter: Cindy (Ronald) Sisco of Mendota.
Seven Grandchildren, Ten Great-Grandchildren, and One Great-Great Grandchild.
Several Nieces and Nephews.
She is preceded in death by: her husband (John 2015), One Daughter; Carol Ann Korter (1997), Six Brothers, One Sister, and their respective spouses. Ten siblings of her husband John and their respective spouses.
