Obituary for Genevieve Nowik
Genevieve 'Gen' Nowik, 99 of Peoria, Illinois, passed away at Marengo Memorial Hospital on June 12, 2012, in Marengo, Iowa. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday June 20, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Hyacinth's Church LaSalle, IL. Rev. Adam Stimpson officiating. Burial will be in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 20, 2012 from 8:30 - 10:00 A.M. in the Church. She was born in LaSalle, Illinois to Jozef and Waleria Nowik. She retired from Caterpillar after over thirty years of employment. She was active in Caterpillar Retirees Club. She was also a long time mem ber of American Business Women's Association. In 2001 ABWA, Peoria Chapter honored her with their Woman of the Year Award. She was the first president of the newly organized Caterpillar Girls Club at the Morton Plant Parts Department in September of 1958.. She is survived by her son, Francis J. Nowik of DeKalb, Illinois.
