Obituary for Frank J. Ravnikar
Frank J. Ravnikar 95 of LaSalle passed away January 19 at 5:35 AM at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle. A funeral mass will be Thursday January 23 at 11 AM at St. Valentine’s Church in Peru. Monsignor Richard Soseman Pastor of Peru Catholic Churches will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery with full military rites accorded by the LaSalle / Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group. Visitation will be in the church on Thursday from 9 AM until the time of services. The Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle are handling the arrangements.
He was born on May 10, 1924 at Peoples Hospital in Peru to Frank and Anna (Poster) Ravnikar.
He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 in World War II. He held the rank of Motor Machinist Mate 2nd Class. He was awarded the WWll Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon, Asiatic- Pacific Area Campaign Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon while serving.
He married Mary Parisotto on July 1, 1950 in Sacred Heart Church in Oglesby.
He was employed by Westclox until their closing and Caterpillar in Pontiac as a Quality Specialist.
He was a member of St. Valentine’s Church, and the former St. Roch’s and Resurrection Churches in LaSalle. The VFW
He is survived by his brother John (Jeannette) Ravnikar of Peru.
2 Nieces: Connie (Dr. Ram) Gowda, and Sarah (Peter) Bonavia.
4 Nephews: Randy (Rosemary) Ulanowski, Robert (Laura) Ravnikar, James (Karen) Ravnikar, and Richard (Francine) Ravnikar.
He is preceded in death by his wife (2017), and 2 brothers.
