Obituary for Eugene "Gene" Keef
Eugene “Gene” Keef 86 formally of LaSalle passed away peacefully Sunday May 19th at OSF St. Paul Healthcare in Mendota. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be Sunday May 26 at 2:00PM in the Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle. Pastor Michael Freeman will officiate. A memorial visitation will be in the funereal home on Sunday from 12:30 to the time of services.
Gene was born on October 16, 1937 at home in Genoa, Il. to Harley and Garnett (Walters) Keef.
He served his country through the branch of the Army.
He married the love of his life and his best friend, Louise Reems on October 20th, 1956 in Genoa, Illinois.
When he and Louise came to this area they farm. He later was employed by Libby Owens Ford, in Ottawa, Consolidated Freightways in Peru working security. After retiring over a period of years he was a custodian at JFK School in Spring Valley, and LCS School in LaSalle. At LCS he was also a bus driver. He was a member of the Peru Eagles. He enjoyed fishing when given the opportunity. He mostly cherished be around family and friends.
He is survived by: his wife of sixty seven years.
three sons: Richard (Lorraine) Keef, Rodger (Carolyn) Keef, and Rodney (Marla) Keef.
three daughters: Linda Keef, Alice (Victor Voice) Showen, and Patrice (Wes) Cleghorn.
sixteen grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
one Sister, and three brothers.
many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, three brothers, one sister, and one grandchild.
