Edwin “Ed” Liss 81 of LaSalle passed away peacefully on May 1st.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday May 7th at Saint Hyacinth Catholic Church in La Salle. Reverend J.A. Small, Parochial Vicar of Saint John Baptist de LaSalle Parish will officiate. He will be laid to rest following the mass at Saint Hyacinth Cemetery in LaSalle. Visitation will be in the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services
Ed was born on August 30, 1944, in La Salle, Illinois, to Al and Mary (Pikul) Liss. He graduated from Saint Hyacinth Catholic Grade School, La Salle-Peru Township High School, and Illinois Valley Community College. He married Diane Ajster on April 29, 1967, and together they shared a long and devoted marriage and family.
Ed dedicated 37 years of his life to the phone industry, working for Illinois Bell, SBC, and Ameritech. Outside of work, he enjoyed collecting toys and never lost his fondness for cars. He loved going to auctions in search of treasures, keeping his vehicles spotless, and cutting the grass on his riding lawn mower. Ed was a kind and generous man who was always willing to help others.
Survivors include his wife Diane, and his children Lee Ann Liss of Gurnee, IL and Steve Liss of Plainfield, IL and his grandson Elliott Liss. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Arlene Slusarek of La Salle; nephews and nieces, John (Michelle) Slusarek of Cedar Rapids, IA, Stacy Konczak of Peru, Gina Burch of Kileen, TX and Nicole (Jeremiah) Pearson of Copperas Cove, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Mary Liss; father and mother in laws, Frank and Anita Ajster; brother-in-law’s, Robert Slusarek and Gary Ajster; and niece Melissa Slusarek.
