Obituary for Dr. Frank (Bud) Ludford
Dr. Frank (Bud) Ludford, retired optometrist passed away on January 2, 2016. Dr. Ludford was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1929. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bernardine Ludford, and his brother John.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lorraine, his children Karen (Richard Gress) of La Salle, Steven (LuAnn) of Peru, William (Mary) of Chicago, Thomas (Cindy) of Conway, AR, Mary Beth (Mark Boehm) of Spring Valley, and David (Ginger) of LaSalle. Seventeen Grandchildren: Lisa, Michael, Joseph, Rebecca, Nicole, Lindsey, Joshua, Joel, Stephanie, Alec, Marissa, Chase, Seth, Reese, Renn, Brian, and Tim. Seven Great Grandchildren: Theo, Charley Mae, Dante, Rachel, Sasha, Joey, and Gwen.
Dr. Ludford practiced in downtown LaSalle with Dr. Donald Hein, Dr. John Majeske, Dr. Anthony Williams, and his son Dr. David Ludford. He was Educated at The Chicago College of Optometry, he received his Doctorate in Optometry in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 – 1953 where he served in the Medical Corps. He received Honors for being a practicingmember of The Illinois Optometric Association and American Optometric Association for 50 years of service.
He was involved in various organizations, including, theCatholic War Veterans, the Elks, the Knights of Columbus, the Illinois Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, LaSalle Little League, Platter Club and an active member of St Hyacinth’s Catholic Church.
Bud’s favorite pastimes included, visits from his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed his bowling and golfing buddies and working out at the YMCA.
Visitation will be at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, 927 10thStreet, LaSalle, Illinois on Tuesday, January 5th from 4:00 to 7:00p.m. Additional visitation will be Wednesday, January 6thfrom 1:00 to 2:00 pm in the church. A funeral Mass will be at 2:00pm. The Very Reverend Antonio Dittmer Pastor of LaSalle Parishes will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Hyacinth Cemetery. Military Honors will take place by the LaSalle /Oglesby Veterans Group.
