Obituary for Dorothy M. Lasik
Dorothy M. Lasik, 78, of Piety Hill, Oglesby, Illinois passed away on May 20, 2021.
There will be no services. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family burial will be held at a later date per her request. Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle is assisting the family.
Dorothy was born March 29, 1943 to Roy H. and Stephanie (Figurin) Simmons.
Dorothy was owner and operator of Dot's Beauty Shoppe and retired in 1991. She also worked at Westclox and Electric Utilities. Dorothy was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary
starting with the junior auxiliary in 1951. She was an avid crafter, loved sewing and making things for
family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, Stan, and spent winters in Texas with
friends and summers in Wisconsin fishing. Dorothy loved having her granddaughter, Lauren, come Up
North and visit for several weeks each summer where she had the best time swimming and tubing.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Darryl (Sheila) Lasik, of Piety Hill; her daughter, Cyndi Lasik, of LaGrange,
Illinois; one grandchild, Lauren Ernat of Findlay, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley F. Lasik; her sisters, Katherine
Bresnihan of Ocala, Florida and Betty Betts of LaSalle.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be directed to St. Margaret’s Hospice at 600 East First Street,
