He was born on November 11, 1929 in Ottawa to Clarence and Eva Bell (Goff) Johnson.
He graduated from Ottawa High School in 1947.
He served in Army during the Korean War in the 6th Armored Calvary Regiment.
He married Margaret ‘Peg’ Carey on May 5, 1956 in Utica.
He was employed by Ottawa Silica as a foreman for 20 years. He was a plant manager at Shabbona Silica/ Zemi Corporation in Serena IL for 20 years.
He was one of the founders of the Ottawa Sports for Youth.
He is survived by:
2 sons: Dennis Johnson of Apache Junction Arizona, and Bob Johnson of Ottawa
1 daughter: Lori Sanders of Ottawa
1 granddaughter: Kelli Sanders
He is preceded in death by:
